Larry Nelson


Member, Board of Directors
As a member of Curriki's Board of Directors, Larry Nelson will help uphold the company's mission to help bridge the education divide.

A near-20 year veteran and industry leader, Larry Nelson is currently advising a number of companies in the global education market.

Initially recruited by Sun in January 2001, Larry was a Director at Sun Microsystems, Inc. At Sun he drove its global citizenship efforts, overseeing the Sun Foundation and community affairs. Previous to that role, Larry led Sun's K-12 strategy and solution partnerships helping to cement sales and strategic partnerships in the U.S., Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, UK, Spain, and many other parts of the world. Larry also served as acting executive director of the Global Education & Learning Community (GELC--now known as Curriki) where he managed the "spin-out" of the GELC as an independent non-profit corporation.

Before joining Sun, Larry was vice president of marketing and finance at SchoolCity.com, a web-based infrastructure provider to schools around the globe, and he ran the Decision Development Corporation (DDC), a privately held educational software publisher. Before entering the technology industry Larry grounded his sales and brand management skills at General Foods, Procter & Gamble, and Bloomingdale's.

Larry is secretary and treasurer of the Board of Directors of Curriki and is also on the board of the National Education Association (NEA) Foundation. Larry earned a masters in business administration from Cornell University and a bachelors degree from Vassar College.
